Needs more singletons/voids.

Given that partner has a 15+ balanced, opps probably can't make game and we might well buy it with 3.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Helen_t explains why 3 is the right choice on my hand.

Partner held x x x Q x x A K Q A J x x and the doubler held K x. Opponents can make a lucky vulnerable game (3N) but would never bid it, in practice

I bid a daft 5, which was doubled for -4 (-800) -- so my stupid effort got it's just deserts. Partner diplomatically pointed out : Such unilateral master-mind attempts are typical of me and this was a typical result. Also, I never learn from my mistakes. Unfortunately, she's right, again :(

I would rate the opps to be able to make 3N against several strong NTs by P, and expect bidding 3 to push them into it much of the time. 5 might go for too much even if they are making game, so I'm just wishing there were something in the middle.
