If I'm on I'm willing.

I've played both strong club canape and "natural" canape.

I've been playing around with Ken Rexford's MICS system, if that's of any interest.

I'd love to try Colin Ward's Valentines system (http://www.members.s...ca/valintro.htm).

I'm interested. It seems like a totally weird system but so far off the weird scale that I can't tell. It looks like a nice change in pace.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I played Ward's system with a couple a guys in Cleveland. I borrowed some of it in tweaking MICS. Not bad, but it does have a few trouble areas. I really like Golady, but Toddler, as humorous as it is, worried me. Plus, as with many, it tries to do too much, IMO, as far as opening structure.

FWIW, Colin's system is very similar to MICS in that 2C is a 3 suit hand and other 2 bids intermediate. The major problem, IMO, is that he has 2 bids as one suiters rather than that suit plus clubs, the Roman approach. While that increases the frequency of the two bids, it leaves one bids as tendency canape, with the attendant problems of not a true and reliable canape. MICS technically is not reliable canape in that you could just have the one suit hand, but it is much easier to unwind. The difference between 4-5 and 6 is more profound than the difference between 4-5 and 5-4.

Then I'm not sure what you mean by 'tendency canape', since in Valentines, hands with 12-16 hcp, 5x4C are opened 1, not 1x.

I think I am recalling a different, older version, then.

Actually, I now recall that the version I played was different. Modified heavily. My issue is the 1C overload.
