Even if your bidding wasn't so strange, trying for slam with that hand was sensible just better to bid 5S to allow partner to choose spades or clubs.

This is bizarre Gib has 9 hcp say you have a max 17 even outside your range and 18 slam will take a miracle so why make a try?
