MP, Instant, 34

At my table I overcalled 4S over 3D, and played it there for an easy 12 tricks after they cashed Diamond Ace at trick 1.

Having missed a stone cold slam I deserved below average, although I expected my action (and result) to be the mode. I was not wrong re the latter, but I was amazed to score 60% so checked what else happened, and found a few of the above.

I gather that these tables are likely also to be version 34, but I cannot be certain.

I have some sympathy for them. If overcalling 4S is going to miss slam, maybe double is right (opposite a sensible North, that is). I will still be overcalling 4S next time.

Note that the description of Double doesn't include the possibility that South's intention is to double-and-correct. I don't know whether this might affect anything later if North wants to play hearts of clubs based on the given description. Another interesting simulation situation, as North apparently likes his chances of setting 3 by at least 2 over his chances of making 4.

I like the 4S bid. There isn't any more to say about GIB passing doubles that obviously should be taken out, it has come up time and time again. I'm with Lycier here, hoping for a fix in the next release!
