Do you agree with 3 bid or would 2NT be better?

If you bid 3 what should West now bid?

I would bid either 2NT or 2C because I don't consider the opening hand to be worth a game force.

I would rebid 2 NT. If I rebid 2 and then 2 NT over partner's 2R, according to Lawrence, I will have shown a queen less.

Not an average 18 count (the aces and heart body make this closer to 19.5). I much prefer the GF 3c. 2N may sound better since we are semi balanced but with the opps owning at least 8 spades I would be a heck of a lot happier about 3n if p can bid it and we aren't even talking about our complete lack of dia power. 3c also happens to leaves 3n in the picture as well as 5c which can have play opposite many minimums and even 4h is not gone from the equation. Do not like the fact that 2n might cause us to miss far too many games and quite possibly steers us in the wrong direction.

What's 3 for ? after forcing 1nt,3 is equal to GF.
This hand isn't so strong enough to force to game,2nt is better than 3.

With this excellent 18 count, I might even punt 3NT!
From partner's side after 3C, he has golden cards (5-cd support and Qx in H), but slow tricks in D and S (KJx) where most his points are, and potentially facing singletons.
Opener could also be 5323 or 6(31 or 22)3 on this auction.
The form of scoring might affect the decision. I'd go for a conservative 3NT at MPs, KJx x2 being too much of a liability, and start with a nebulous 3D bid at IMPs to see if sth exciting happens, with 5C or 4NT as a back-up contracts if we go higher than 3NT.

I strongly prefer a 2 rebid ..... (>>> 2NT >>> 3).

Your hand is not pulling it's full weight for NTs if partner can't scrape up a bid over 2, and if you bid 2NT and partner passes, you will often not make that.

As bid, West has an easy bid over 3: 3 to show a decent club raise that does not wish to bypass 3NT.

I would bid 1H-1NT; 2C-2S (though my old-fashioned partner won't understand that so it has to be 3C instead); 3NT

I bid 3NT with West with the given auction, we want our KJx protected on the lead. If partner has a real monster he can bid 4NT (or something) and I will then go for slam in clubs - but until that point it looks like 3NT is the place to be.
