Would it be simple enough to change the default of polls to be public? I basically always want mine to be, but occasionally forget to tick the box until it's too late. I suspect a lot of forum newcomers don't even notice it's an option.

I would have liked to have voted but "don't care" isn't listed as an option. I think that all polls should have "other" autoinserted as a choice.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

I just checked the control panel, this doesn't seem to be an option. The settable options (and how we have them set) for polls are:

Allow IMG and URL tags in polls? Yes
Max questions per poll: 3
Max choices allowed: 20
Allow members to view the results without losing their vote? Yes
Allow poll creator to vote in own poll? Yes
Allow poll creator to make "poll only"? No
Allow Public Polls? Yes
Allow Vote Deletion? Yes
Number of hours to keep open the ability for topic starters to attach a poll to their topic: 24

There are also options for user groups, controlling whether they're allowed to start or vote in polls.

I guess we just need to pay attention to what we're doing when we create a poll. :P

Is it possible to change the New Content refresh from "Random" to "Reader's Choice" or "Never"?

I think the only setting related to New Content is in your personal settings. Under "General Settings", there's "View New Content Method", and the choices are content you haven't read and new content since your last visit.

It's not since your last visit though. The New Content refreshes itself several times a day.

Of course it updates, since new posts are made throughout the day, and those are "since your last visit".

Or are you saying that posts that were after your last visit are being removed from the New Content list during the day?
