You open 1D (playing precision)and LHO bids 1 of a Major.....What do you expect when your partner bids 2D and what do you expect when he bids 3D ?

Does anyone use a lebensohl -like system here....eg 1D - (1S) - 2NT relay to 3C.... whilst 1D -(1S) -2H would be non-forcing ?

Thank you

Sam and I use transfers here. The theory is that 1D is almost always a weak notrump, and transfer gives us the advantage of negative free bids without the disadvantage.

You do that over all immediate interference bids (up to some level) ?

Depends on the Major for us.

- Dbl/1 inversion after 1-1 (Dbl shows 4-5, 1 denies , 2M shows 6+ with different ranges)
- Switch after 1-1 (2 shows ; 2 shows ).

After 1D-1S, 1D-2C, 1D-2D (if natural) we rotate the two-level bids so they show the next suit up. The highest (non-cue) two level bid shows the cheapest suit that can be bid at the two level as well as inv+ values. So 1D-2C-2S is diamonds inv+.

Over 1D-1H:

X = 4+S (if 6+ then exactly inv)
1S = 4+ clubs
1nt = natural
2C = diams
2D = 3144 plus a non-spade less than inv
2H = 6+S weak or GF
2S = both minors usually weak
2nt = nat inv
3m = nat weak
3H = xfer to 3nt
