Find the Lethal Special Edition, featuring Mage Secrets!

Your opponent has:

A damaged Archmage Antonidas (5/2) on the board
A secret they got off of Cabalist's Tome
24 Life

You have:

A 3/1 Fiery War Axe equipped
Enough Life + Armor to survive next turn if necessary
No cards left in your deck, and the following cards in hand, all discounted once by Emperor Thaurissan:
Raging Worgen
Inner Rage
Charge
Rampage
Faceless Manipulator
Fiery War Axe
Loot Hoarder

Plan to kill your opponent this turn or next turn for any possible secret. You may assume they have no taunts or heals (Tempo Mage, both Mirror Images have been used).

This seems trivial

So:

Worgen 2 mana
Inner rage 0 mana worgen to 6/2 windfury
Charge 2 mana worgen to 8/2 charge windfury
Rampage 1 mana 11/5 charge windfury
Faceless 4 mana 2x 11/5 charge WF
Loot hoarder 1 mana 2/1
Attack with worgens, only secrets that can get in the way - ice block, you will do 22/24 and kill next turn with axe if necessary, counterspell/spellbender you will have 2 8/6 worgens which will do plenty of damage with the windfury, vaporise you will lose one worgen but do 22 with the other and 3 with the axe.

Opp can always get in the way (ice block, animated armor and an AoE freeze is awkward), I can't see a completely guaranteed kill but how many cards in his hand/deck would be useful to know.

I don't see how you beat counterspell or spellbender. Does your solution account for them?

Oh, now I do.

Rampage antonidas, worgen, charge, inner rage, faceless. You have two worgens that hit for 16 each. Vaporize means you hit for 19 and can finish with axe this turn and the next. Ice block means they drop to 3, next turn you finish with axe. Nothing else seems relevant.

Ah OK, the worgen isn't damaged if IR is counterspelled so I can't rampage it.

yes you have to rampage antonidas first to account for that, although ice block will allow some plays on opp's turn that will stop you, but probably not cards he had in his deck.

There's an issue with vaporise, how are you doing 19 this turn and 5+ the next ? Sounds like you're using the war axe 3 times in 2 turns.

What actually happened: I played Worgen and inner raged the Spellbender. Facelessed the Antonidas, hit opponent with rampaging charging Antonidas, finished him with 2 fireballs next turn.

It didn't end up being terribly hard/complicated but it's a good mental exercise to run through in max. 60 seconds...

Not relevant to this, but if you have antonidas in play and play a spell that gets countered, do you get the fireball ?

Somehow I enjoy ladder play most at the beginning of the month. Most of the tryhards are either in the single-digits already or are waiting a week before they start, and you get to play against serious but off-meta decks. I played against Dragon N'Zoth Rogue and N'Zoth Druid today.

With what deck? Glad you asked. I went 10-12 with this monstrosity:

2 Power Word: Shield
2 Shadow Word: Pain
1 Acidic Swamp Ooze
Bloodmage Thalnos
2 Doomsayer
1 Flame Juggler
1 Garrison Commander
2 Shadow Word: Death
2 Shadowform
2 Tournament Medic
2 Excavated Evil
2 Holy Nova
2 Darkshire Alchemist
2 Entomb
2 Holy Fire
1 Cabal Shadow Priest
1 Kodorider
Prophet Velen
Soggoth the Slitherer

I'm pretty sure one of the late-game cards needs to be changed into a second Flame Juggler (other 2-drops I considered: Boneguard Lieutenant. 2-drops for Priest are pretty sad.) to give me a more consistent early game, but I can't quite decide which one. And don't say Soggoth, Soggoth is MVP versus Mage, Rogue and Control Warrior.

There's a Reno Shadowform deck floating around. Kibler played it on stream after losing to it, and I've actually encountered it twice on ladder myself (which, considering how rare priest is, is relatively often :P)

I know, but I don't believe in Reno Shadowform. I really can't imagine making do with only one of:

Doomsayer
Shadowform
Excavated Evil
Holy Nova
Darkshire Alchemist

and I find it sketchy at best to have only one SW: Pain. Plus, my big removal package (that doesn't require already having upgraded Shadowform) is 2 each of SW: Death, Entomb and Holy Fire - you won't usually need all of them but having enough in the deck increases the consistency of having one when you need it.

(And yes, I know that Reno Shadowform runs 2 Shadowform and sometimes even 2 PW: Shield but.... that just makes it even more wildly inconsistent, doesn't it?)

It's not so bad to run duplicates in a reno deck, especially if you draw a lot. There are Reno Freeze variants that run as many as 8 duplicates.

Just out of curiosity, does Auchenay Priest and Reno damage or heal you?

When I played Reno Mage you totally had to run 2 mad scientist and several secrets, some games you could not use Reno, but they were rare.

Auchenai Reno hits you for 30 regardless of your current life total.

I have this feelig that arena gives me shitty cards all the time when I constantly keep the same class again and again, but it rewards me for using classes I rarely take

Is Purify a special card for something?

For showing how little the designers actually play their game

It's awful in Arena and since Priest was already the weakest arena class, they announced they'll never offer it as a stop-gap measure until arena is balanced (there are hints they're going to tweak card offer rates based on something other than the rarity)

Arena is the only place it might work, if you get offered 4 eerie statues and 3 ancient watchers
