UPDATE: New test scheduled for Thursday, July 2nd at 3.30AM USA Eastern Time (9.30AM Central European Time). Registrations are open 2 hours before start, so starting with 1.30AM EDT (7.30AM CET) you can get your team online and register to play. Look for a tourney hosted by BBO, in the Free Tournaments area, with Swiss Teams into the title.

UPDATE: New test scheduled for Wednesday, July 1st at 3.30AM USA Eastern Time (9.30AM Central European Time). Registrations are open 2 hours before start, so starting with 1.30AM EDT (7.30AM CET) you can get your team online and register to play. Look for a tourney hosted by BBO, in the Free Tournaments area, with Swiss Teams into the title.

In some hours from now, on Friday at 3.30AM Eastern Time (9.30AM Central European Time) we'll test a new type of tournament, called Swiss Teams Tourney. We need a some teams to register and play. If you'd like to try it out, log on BBO before start time, so you have time to register. The tourney will be visible two hours before start (so at 1.30AM EDT / 7.30AM CET registrations are open).

How it works:

1) Register your pair, like in any normal tourney (click the Register button, then invite your partner or go to Partnership Desk and invite someone from there)
2) Team up. After your pair has registered, click the Register button again, and invite another Pair to team up with you.

If you don't team up with another pair, you'll be matched randomly when the tourney starts with another pair that isn't part of another team.

When the tourney starts, Teams will move Swiss style, top scorers play top scorers at the end of each round.

The tourney won't be very long - plan about an hour to play.

We'll post details here when we have the tourney number and title.

Tourney #8011 now posted. It's a 12 board, 4 rounds format, 3 boards per round, 8 mins per board, IMPs converted to VPs, 20-Point VP Scale.

The tourney will show up in the list of pending tourneys at 1.30AM USA Eastern Time (7.30AM Central European Time) and starts at 3.30AM EDT (9.30AM CET). Get a team together and register if you'd like to play. See OP for details on how to register your team.

Any chance to get a real team aware of what kind of tourney they're getting into? We've got some people on the partnership desk over there already, but not convinced they have any idea what's going on LOL

Any BBFers around to try and register and team up please? Lycier is in, wd be nice to get at least one more team.

This went well. Some wrinkles to iron out still but nothing tragic (cosmetics mostly).

We'll do one more Swiss Teams Tournament tomorrow, July 2nd at 3.30AM EDT (9.30AM CET). Same as before, registrations open at 1.30AM USA Eastern Time (7.30AM Central European Time). Come play, it's an exciting and competitive format if you like team matches.

For those who are curious on whether we are making any progress here: today's test went well, it was a bigger tourney, with VP30 scoring this time.

Fun fact: winners were teams with BBFers on board: scarletv's team was 1st, phoenix214 was 2nd - well done BBF gang :)

We'll plan for another swiss teams tourney soon at a more decent hour. Stay tuned ;)

Agree, very nice new feature and I can hardly wait to run one of these tourneys myself.

Result and points are correct but IMPs are not at "My hands". They seem to be calculated the same as in normal IMP tourneys. But at least I can see what others played.

When looking at "Hands and results" I see the IMPs (correct) calculated for the team matches.

Example board 6
6NT bid and made by our opps and at the other table 6 by our teammates
"My hands" -6.45 IMPs
"Hands and results" 0 IMPs
0

I notice this myself when I was making the updates to myhands, and asked Uday. His answer: "This was a deliberate missing feature".

I wonder if there is any progress on this?
I am sure that would be a lovely feature and it seemed to work quite well when we tested it.
