The question is, how, in an uncontested auction, do E/W miss their 9-card ♠ fit and donate 13+ IMPs to the 5 N/S pairs on the receiving end of their generosity. More specifically, why did East bid its 7-card suit only once then settle for 3NT holding a singleton in ♦s when partner has shown a ♥/♣ 2-suiter?
