Can I get a general scheme/layout for responses and meanings for when partner opens 1D in 1st or second seat and it is doubled by his LHO ?.....Playing precision. Thank you in advance for any suggestions......

Last night, I opened 1D, was doubled, the wife redoubled holding 2 Diamonds and I ended up playing 1D redoubled against a 9 card Diamond holding by opponents....Luckily got a top, but ......

never mind: our agreements don't work if we play Precision. I missed that part.

Somewhat standard would be to play transfers:
XX=4+
1=4+
1-bal hand
1NT - club
2C - diamonds
Higher your choice
Usually with a stronger hand that wants to penalize opps you can pass, then X them after they bid

Just to add - 2 can mean an inverted raise with a 2 minimum bid being non-forcing.

One other idea with weak hand and no tolerance always takeout the double to another suit even with 0 pts. So passing infers tolerance for diamonds or a hand interested in penalizing which is shown by later doubling. Perhaps this is crazy but avoid 2-2 fits with a minimum opposite a weak hand.

Thanks guys; we are going to adopt these suggestions. Before I reinvent the wheel, can you further suggest the continuations ?...eg as in :

1D- (x) -xx transfer the Hearts -(Pass) -1H - (Pass) - ?....

Do you suggest the higher bids be preemptive ?...eg. 1D-(x) -2H.....

Accepting the transfer on level 1 shows 3 pieces, bidding 1NT denies having 3 card support.
2M can be preemptive
If you bid again, just treat the sequences same as for example 1D-1H, 1NT with some modifications due to knowing partners amount of major support.

If playing nebulous diamond I would play similar to short club with transfers:

1D-(Dbl)-Rdbl/1H-(P);
1M = Accept of transfer. Shows balanced hand with 2-3 card support, or minimum unbal with 3 card support.
2M = 4 card support
Other = Natural unbalanced. 1NT could be used to show something like 6322 or perhaps the other major.
