So this week I prepared a little surprise for everyone and uploaded prepared hands to the tourney. All 20 boards were hands submitted in the Interesting Hands forum in 2003 and 2004. I tried to choose reasonable hands, not goulashy stuff, but it still felt a bit crazy. We can call this the Necro Indy :)

I'll post the links to the original discussions in a bit for anyone interested.

It was a fun tournament.

My favorite hand was

I was surprised that no one bid 6. (Not sure that you should, mind you, but someone always bids something strange)

I was also surprised that some folks didn't make 6, since it looks to be a simple exclusion and end play

Here are the original discussions. I tweaked the hands a couple of times, or switched dealer/vul occasionally so some of the discussions will no longer be relevant to what happened in our tourney but in general I did my best to respect dealer and vul.

It is not that simple. At trick 7, South needs to follow with a low diamond. Then the 4th diamond trick cannot be established for the Q discard. The only way of making 12 tricks is to make the unlikely play for North to hold Kx or Qx.

Damn. On board 14, I seriously considered 3N but only after I had instaclicked 3S.

I also should just drop the HK at T1. Another thing I noticed instantly af.ter misplaying.
