There are not a lot of beginners on the forums, but there are plenty on BBO. Why not join the Beginner Intermediate Lounge. You will quickly find new partners and quickly improve your skills.

Lots happening in the Beginner Intermediate Lounge. Go to this link for a calendar of event - all FREE!! Hosted play times are a good way to meet people in a friendly environment. Go to the BILies Retreat section of the Public Clubs.
