GIBs tendency to make hyper passive leads backfires when I bid hyper aggressive games
based on a long suit.

In general, I open *any* 14 hcp hand 1N. Long suit or not, singleton or not,
and I am generally glad I did, because gib's passive leads put it at a distinct
disadvantage.

A matter of personal preference and style. Leo and lots of others who do very well bid that way with GIB. In my opinion, they are playing a game other than bridge, and I'm not interested. But I don't criticize them either.

Really good players take into account their opponents as well as their partners.
