If this was the gwnn discussion forum, GIB N would post the same hand with "why did my partner finesse in diamonds when he has a 5-3 fit in clubs?" And all the gibs would be shrugging... But I have a different question, why couldn't I claim all tricks with A AKQ left in my hand? I was quite happy with the claim function and usually I was very careful not to click on "concede all", but this time I was sure my claim would stand so I just clicked without looking...

You can only claim a specific number of tricks when you're on lead. When the robot is leading, the only thing you can do is concede all the remaining tricks.

So you should have won the diamond trick, then claimed the rest.

I understood this after a few more almost-disasters eventually, but why this policy? It seems more of a bug than a feature. It was not like there was KJ of diamonds in dummy opposite xx in hand and LHO led low and I claimed 1 trick less, I literally had no way of losing a trick any more (I had lost enough tricks already!).

Totally agree. Easy to say "just win the trick and claim" but also very easy to claim without looking, when you are just going to be cashing out. I have fallen foul of this a couple of times and it leaves you with a rather sour taste I must say.

It's not a policy as such, it's just the way Ginsberg wrote the claim code in GIB. I haven't looked at how it works to see why it needs to work differently depending on whether the claimant is on lead or not, but I assume there's a reason for it.

How about just disabling claims altogether when they are on lead then? This is the exact opposite of what normally happens in real life. Most of my claims IRL are just after opps led something so this is just wrong. It's nice to say "oh it is just the way it is" but could you also admit that it is a problem that it is the way it is?

Once i claimed (indicating number of tricks..) but :"claim rejected" so i was forced to play and realized one trick more !
