I can't tell you how many times recently I've missed a speedball registration by less than 30 seconds.

When I play live club bridge I've never been turned down when I've shown up late. Either we will fill out a movement with a 1/2 table, or sometimes there's another pair that also wants to play that might have been stuck in the same traffic jam.

Why not let latecomers at a speedball up to 2-5 minutes? Unfinished boards that round could get an Avg.

This happens a lot to you? Sounds like the problem is not with the organizers.

I agree 1000% with Phil. It happened to me a lot too, so I've taken to logging on to my phone or tablet client while driving home. But for those of us who work and then come home to play bridge with far away partners, it is really annoying to catch traffic or be held up slightly at work and now miss an event by seconds and as a result miss the tournament for an hour. My mobile/tablet solution mostly works, but isn't the safest option (I do pull over as soon as possible and then drive only while dummy/breaks, but still not ideal).

Texting while driving seems safe by comparison

Perhaps one's employer could rearrange the work schedule so that it wouldn't interfere with a player's Bridge games or inconvenience other Bridge players.

agua I think you need to halt the cynicism here. And this comes from me so and I know I'm one of the worst offenders.

This concept seems like a win/win. There are sometimes technical problems why someone can't log on in time. Or, it's 4:58 and I suddenly have time for a game; or as Michael says, I'm stuck in traffic or my conference call runs late. The service creates more revenue this way as well.

If anyone has any serious objections I'd be interested.
