strong hand that doesn't fit well in your system

Teams IMP's
All non-vulnerable

This hand didn't fit our system. The only options you have are:
- 2♦ multi followed by 3♦ is GF in ♦. (After 3♦ partner can show a ♥-stop with 3♥, but it is not clear if 4♥ by you will show a 4c♥ now).
- 1♦: natural (4c♦, 12-19)
- 2NT= 20-21 NT
- 2♦ multi followed by 2NT: 22-23 NT
- 3♦ transfer preempt, followed by 4♣: GF 2-suiter; ♥+♦
(2♣ is mini precision: weak with ♣)

With given options, 1♦ seems your best shot to me.

Just change the definition of 1♦ to 12+ and then it fits your system.

1♦ for me as I can bid later hearts at the 3 or 4 level without being afraid of being supported with 3 cards. But I think longer first players should open 2♣ rather.

No, the other hand also has ♥K and ♦Q... :P

I'd just open 1♦. This makes the auction much more controlable at the risk of getting passed out.

Why is 1D 12-19 and not 12-21 ?
