1)

2)

How forcing is 3 in these auctions, if at all, in standard bidding?

Does the fact that W had 2C available as a transfer to diamonds over the 1NT bid change anything?

Thanks.

Nf. Even if rho is prone to psyching. You can always bid clubs if you want to force

1. What is E/W's style of 1-level overcalls?
2. What did double of 1NT mean?
3. Is West likely to have a hand where he would want to make a forcing 3 bid?
4. If 3 is NF, that doesn't preclude East from raising with a suitable hand.

1. Very aggressive. However usually it will be suitable for a lead director unless he has extra shape or pre-emption possibilities.
2. 'Values', happy to play 1Nx
3. Not very often I should think.
4. This is funny. Of course I made a truly terrible pass as responder on the hand that inspired this post. However it later transpired that p had tried to make a forcing bid and just assumed that I had lost my mind when I passed (even more than I did). I am certainly not trying to shift any blame onto p for this particular mishap.
