MPs. Adv/expert field.

Bids:
1 = nat 3+ or preparatory with 15-17 balanced
2 = nat ~5-9 and 5+ diamonds
2NT = shows 15-17, need not have 3 diamonds...

Your bids now mean:
Dbl = optional, max hand in context and defensive values
3NT = on a wing and a prayer
4/5C = nat 54 or better
4H = undiscussed, but will probably be taken a singleton by pard

BID?

If I wanted to make a second bid I should have done it the first time around.

Opener (me) had

AKT2
QJ7
AJ74
Q4

Pard came up with "MP" bid of 3NT, which had absolutely no play: there were only 8 tricks available. I think 4 is a better bid. Even if opener has double heart stopper, 3NT lacks the HCP and the long diamonds may not be enough to compensate.

I'd rather play 3X than 4, I will get more +800 than -730

Doesn't it get frustrating to always score below 40%? Shouldn't you try to find a game more suitable to, uh, your partner's skill level?
