GIB had all sorts of problems here:

- don't think should force to 4 level with 10 HCP opposite a balancing double, 3s should be a stronger hand. I think bidding 3H is enough.
- why should 4c show 4+d, 4+h, twice rebiddable clubs? It was forced by partner's cue, should still be 3+,3+, 4+ on suit lengths, and probably no spade stopper
- seems like somebody should be bidding hearts at some point, not that it really fares much better with the 5-0 break here, but getting to a heart contract will score better most days.

Might want to fix the South Bot  It seems like there should be a way to get to 4 in a way that allows the North bot to compete to a making 5

Can you on firm what X of 2S by West would have shown in gibberish? I would sympathise with penalty
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Sympathize would be an underbid, IMO. It should be a "standing on my chair" penalty double sending a message to opening bidders holding the same mininum hand they started with, who think Partner didn't see the original 1 bid.

In this instance, South wouldn't have rebid only 2S on my planet, nor would West Double if he did...so it is irrelevant.

I agree with Dave (agua) that double of 2S is clearly for penalty. And with Stephen that 3H was plenty for the W hand after the double. I would just add that Stephen's posts - and bridge actions - are ordinarily extremely sensible. I'll agree he was excessively conservative on this hand, but I'll cut him some slack.

A lot of my reports are from robot races, where I'm taking something like 0.15 sec per bidding decision and trying to avoid complicated auctions for my bot partner (redouble) and trying to end hands quickly. So I ask you to refrain from commenting on my choices, which are rather irrelevant to problems with how the robots bid anyway. Even if human opp is making weird dumb bids because playing at 15x normal speed, the robots should still make the right choices against the actual bids encountered.
