I think GIB should do something other than rebid 1Nt.

I think on the actual hand I would open 1H and rebid clubs.

Of course if GIB has what he promised, this is probably a pretty terrible 6NT . . .

I would not object to GIB opening 1C and rebidding 2C.
If the 1N rebid is systemically consistent, then I would rather that North rebid 3H over 3D rather than 3N. That may not help a lot, but it would confirm the 6th Club, would it not?

The 1NT rebid is utter nonsense. I open 1H all day with this hand, but if you can't handle that a 2C rebid is the only possibility.

My auction: 1H-1S, 2C-2D, 3C-3D, 3S-4C, 5C-6C.

Unless and until GIB gets some of its real quirky bits resolved I would rather it stuck with opening its longer of two unequal suits. Possibly with the exception of touching suits. 1H may work better tactically here, but I would rather treat GIB like a beginner and ask it to open 1C. And on this hand it should still reach 6C by bidding 3H over 3D.

This is funny.

The other day, I consented to substituting in a random team match. On the third hand, I held a 16 count with 3532 distribution. My partner opened the bidding 1, and the bidding unfolded as follows:

1 - 1
2 - 2*
2NT - 3NT

* fourth suit forcing

This was my partner's hand:

xx
---
QJxxx
AKxxxx

At least my partner bid both suits. But I don't think that 2NT is the most accurate description of the hand.
