I need more defensive quick tricks than losers to open 2!C so, at 5 and 5 I would open it 2NT

I would upgrade playing a 20-21 point range. Aces and kings are very undervalued by point count, and you don't know that you will wind up playing in no trump, but upgrading higher than a 22 point NT is too big a stretch.
