4 - always worth a try for game, and 3nt risks a mess in clubs

4 is quite an aggressive game try.
The "4 is a transfer to 4" award goes to Jinksy - PhilKing

3 - and yes, this would be a great hand for Gazzilli.

2h

even more so if we play reverse flannery which means pard will very seldom have 4h here.

2 is TBW MSC bid. If you want to score 100, you better choose 2.
What to do next is less clear.

I don't know who sets the problems, but I think there is very little chance that 3 will get the top mark.

edit - having just received my December magazine, I think I recall the hand. I believe Mike bid 3, but that worked poorly.

2H what else ? 2H is 100%forcing for ONE ROUND ,when playing any NORMAL standard system. In systems like Precision 2 H is a passable bid because the opening bid except 1Club is limited to 15 HCP.

A 2 reverse for me, too. The hand is just too good for a simple jump in .

If partner raises , then partner must have 5+ . If partner simply makes the weakness/waiting bid, then the support can be shown. Partner might picture the hand as KQx KQxx AKxxx x, but that's only off by 1 card.

If partner has 4 and s, it may also enable us to find a good 3 NT contract.

Although it's normal to have 4+ cards in the reverse suit, sometimes making a "hasty" reverse into a 3 card makes a lot of sense in conveying the strength of a hand (like maybe Ax AQx AKJxxxx x which is just short of a strong 2 ). Responder just needs to keep in mind that it will occasionally happen.

Having sat next to Mike on the sofa while he made the hands up I can confirm that none of these is based on a specific real-life deal.

3D although 2H is quite tempting - but it would be more tempting if the case were stronger for a 5-card spade suit opposite such as is the case with 1C-1S rather than 1D-1S.
