There are some deals which you just have to sit back and admire the beauty of the auction.

Here is GIB in action. Notice how GIB paints a picture of its hand so that it is easy to decide what to do:

I particularly like the 2NT call by GIB. It allowed me to picture GIB's hand almost down to the spot cards. Unfortunately, the picture was of some hand that GIB didn't happen to hold during the bidding. But, as I said, you still have to just sit back and admire the beauty of the auction.

True the 2NT bid by GIB is ridiculous. I find your bidding quite strange also. I acknowledge that GIB doesn't handle splinters well so I can understand passing on that option, but your auction certainly sounds like 3 Spades only. J2NT will get you to the slam easily.

Indeed, I admire the quality of that heart stopper, even if it did only show heart length.

Sorry if you don't like my auction.

Bidding J2NT with my cards is silly (with all due respect, of course). Once my "partner" knows I have a club suit and a game forcing spade raise, his hand is enormous..

I like showing the club suit also. Perhaps a delayed splinter of 4D after 2NT.

Playing with GIB not bidding 2N is a hopeless action. GIB does not reevalaute for secondary fits/non-fits so trying to conduct some sort of delicate shape-showing value auction just isn't going to work out well.

GIB's explanations don't mention a heart stopper. So maybe 2N is some kind of temporizing bid, because he didn't want to just sign off in 4. Ick! (The 5- in the explanation is superfluous, since we already know he has 9+ pointy cards.)

I wonder what 3 instead of the 2 bid would have meant

I don't know how North plans to cuebid first-round control of all 3 side suits, but South didn't wait around to hear.
