8 Board Robo-dup, Matchpoints

Hand Two
I don't understand East's 2S bid.
Hand

Hand Three
Less confused, but North's 3H bid says it promises 3+ Hearts. It appears to only promises Ax. :)

Hand Two:

GIB had a choice - pass 2 or bid 2. It chose to bid 2, which makes some sense. It keeps the auction alive, and it might be right to bid more. Now, if you had just bid 3 you would have reached a very reasonable contract (and 2 isn't the worst contract I have ever seen). There is a lot to be said for you to pass 2, which is what I would have done.

Hand Three:

You passed a forcing 1 response, so anything that happens after that is uncharted territory. As it was, GIB forced you to a fair game which looks like it might make.

Yes, the last hand made and I ended up 2OA with a 69% :)

GIB gets a "good job" on that one.

I'm surprised that North gave South the choice of games, when North knows about the 5-4 spade fit, and South only knows about 4-4.

ArtK78, on "Hand Two" the OP is South. It's the robots messing up their own bidding. I agree with pass of 2C though - does GIB use the fact that the other hand is passed when evaluating where to go next?

"Hand Three" is really weird bidding by N. Apparently double is for penalties (!), and why bother with 3H instead of just bidding 3S? (Over 3H, South should bid 4S IMHO)

Thanks for that Ahydra:

- Yes I was very confused about East supporting West with one card in the trump suit.

- Yes nice analysis. Obviously I was bidding Robo-dup style, bid 1m and pass the response with effectively 10HCP and knowing partner has 11- Perhaps with the singleton, I should have raised spades immediately, though.
