vul vul opps are not good

you are second position holding

KQxxx

RHO opens 1D. biding goes on like so

1D 1H 3D* 4H
5D

pard asked about 3D it was explained as strong with diamond fit. then he bid 4H and 5D came instantly.

IMO 5 and 6 !h are the only choices but what do i know. anyway, the explanation of a strong bid from RHO seems a bit silly, i hold a 17 count, if pard brings any honour card (and i hoped he doesnt have xxxx xxxxxx xx x or sth like that) the explanation should be incorrect.

if pard brings xxxx Kxxxx xxx x things are difficult.

on a no spade lead it can be 100% but also on a spade lead can come down to 0 % sometimes.

i´ve asked arround with some experts, some say the bidding yells for a non diamond lead (with better players at least) some say that you can easily have two singletons and the diamond goes bye-bye if they don´t lead it right away so they can´t discard the diamond lead as an option.

it seems tricky anyway so i just want to hear something more,
thanks

p.s. would some of you consider 2nt as their first bid? (55 in two lowest unbid suits) if yes why if no why?

5h

Partners range of hands is so wide making a logical choice is
tough. This hand could make 7 or go down in 4 and given the same
wide range of hands the opps making 5d is anything but impossible.
I would bid 5h not because I am sure that is the best place to play
but that it has a fair chance of getting the opps to bid 6d which I
would be a lot happier trying to set.

I think I missed the "strong" alert of 3

Don't care about strong alert, partner is vulnerable. LHO might have a killing spade lead, but he might also lead any minor.
