In general, I find it hard to penalize with GIB because lots of doubles are takeout. Here the double of 4C is not takeout and (merits of my double aside), GIB decides to pull despite having decent defense and me denying support. Seems reasonable for doubles to be penalty after the XX.

I empathise with you, its hard to extract a penalty with GIB.

But doesn't GIB realize 4 is hopeless. You've shown at most 2 and might only be 11 hcp. As cards are its down 3 vul which is bad enough, but why that contract isn't doubled for 800 I don't know?

Can't say as how I really understand the point of East's 3C bid.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

Thanks for reporting.

Should be improved in next version as for cases like these where fit was emphatically denied to be showing some penalty length as GIB would stay.
