Today I researched the hand records of a player whose name has four letters. Sometimes his name shows as four lower-case letters, sometimes as four upper-case. (Never mixed case.) Generally, in any session it's one or the other, except that in one 12-board ACBL Pairs Speedball (4 rounds of 3 boards) it was lower on boards 3, 6 and 9 and upper on all the others. It's not a function of who was declarer. Any ideas as to why this would be?

BBO is case-insensitive, but it remembers the case you used when you login. I've seen couples who use the same account for some reason, and have a note in their profile that says "SOANDSO is John, soandso is Jane".

But I'm not sure what would cause it to switch from one hand to the next in a tourney, unless he kept getting disconnected and used different case when logging back in. Can you send me a PM with the details?
