I just recently found out Gib can overcall with 4 card major and 5 card minor. Also, some places on the internet also allow a 4-card major

I was taught you need a 5-card major to increase your chance of a finding a spot at 2-level. Some places show a 5+card major.

Wondering what other people use?

If you want to go in with 54 shape, than 5+m,4+M makes more sense,
since it improves your chances to find a reasonable resting place
on the 3 level, at least in my eyes.

The alternative is, that you adopt the Woolsey defense, basically
the same as Reverse Cappelletti except for the double.
The double showes a hand with 5+m,4M

Isn't it better to find a reasonable resting place at 2-level rather than the 3-level? 5M-4m achieves this.

This is one of my favorites also, however it is mid-chart in ACBLand most of the time (local options on East & West Coast USA).

I also like Comfy Canape and Revised Suction [Zebulon], all GCC legal in ACBLand.
Ultra Relay: see Daniel's web page: https://bridgewithda...19/07/Ultra.pdf
C3: Copious Canape Club is still my favorite system. (Ultra upgraded, PM for notes)

Santa Fe Precision published 8/19. TOP3 published 11/20. Magic experiment (Science Modernized) with Lenzo. 2020: Jan Eric Larsson's Cottontail . 2020. BFUN (Bridge For the UNbalanced) 2021: Weiss Simplified (Canape & Relay). 2022: Canary Modernized, 2023-4: KOK Canape.

Unless doubled, but partner can quite often sit it out, even if only holding 2 cards in the 4+
major. This assumes, that being red, you have 55.
And of course if you want to go in with 54, having a way to show both 54 patterns is even better.

I play it as promising 54 or better, in either direction. However, if the M is only 4 it needs to be a better hand. I'd say I have 5+ in the major 80-90% of the time. I'd say I have 5 in the m 30-40% of the time.

thats what i would want to do. that way you can show both 5-4's and maybe play at 2-level at cost of a penalty double.
Have to flip 2 & 2 bids for GCC reasons
