Too dangerous to try x since we would hate dia bids and not even be sure
we do not hate heart bids (immediate pump in spades). Hand is just too good to
pass and it is extremely reasonable for p to be short in spades and maybe even
raise us to 5c (or bid 4h which we would then like a ton more) and we should
have no troubles if p were to bid 4d or even (very unlikely) 5d. The 4c bid
is also a decent lead director should the opps somehow decide to continue
bidding spades.

I'd pass. Partner rates to have 1 card at most here. RHO can be anywhere from 0 to a bad 13 or so.
3 small and 3=3=2=5 shape are unappealing even with 16 HCP. The shortage of Aces (relative to quacks) is also a concern.
Besides, partner still has a bid left. If pard holds 9-10 HCP and 1=4=4=4 (1=435) I expect a balancing bid... If none is forthcoming I can hope for a small plus on defense.
Be the partner you want to play with.
Trust demands integrity, balance and collaboration.

probably 4? But I'm not entirely sure that's reasonable.

It's very reasonable to me
"Genius has its own limitations, however stupidity has no such boundaries!"
"It's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence!"

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."
