1S. Trick question?

Some crazy people make insane impatient bids like doubling or Michaels.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

The question would be trickier if you have the majors reversed.
Now it is a easy 1.

i do double with 54 in the majors sometimes but only when i'm very minimum and don't want to make 2 bids even at a low level. here i'm happy to bid twice if need be so i overcall.

50% voting for double? Shame this is not a public poll. There was a time when doubling with hands like this was normal but it was a long time ago. Any top pairs still playing that style on your database PK?

Happy New Year everyone!

I would have overcalled 1S before my last bridge event, but PhilKing and MickyB have persuaded me that double is usually better. wank makes a good argument for 1S on this hand, however.
