IMPs 8-board matches.

South's 1NT was stated to be g14-17 on this hand from today's Chairman's Cup, and partner leads the five of spades, second and fourth, and declarer plays low from dummy. You play the queen, and declarer wins with the king. Now declarer leads the seven of diamonds, and partner plays the three (normal count, no Smith) and dummy plays low, and you win with the king. What do you play next? Partner will be capable of playing the ten on the next round of diamonds from an original holding of Txx, of that you can be sure.

declarer failed to duck trick 1 very odd which means
they have all the spade spots OR they started with Kx
of spades. Since either is possible I would go for the
gusto and return the spade T hoping p started with 9xxxxx
and we can set this thing if declarer takes the 2nd dia finesse:)

95432 is indeed one possible holding for partner, but so is 9532, 9543, 9542, 7543, 7532, 7542. And I guess it is possible for partner to have x5x as well, although declarer would probably have continued spades himself then. The choices are the ten or eight of spades, or the ten of hearts. Which do you think is percentage?

Maybe you should ask the director to rotate the table for you. Everyone seems to be avoiding answering the main question; perhaps it should not have been in this forum.

I think you need a new compass.

no, actually now I remember this coming up before.. people have the tendency to place the auction in the center, so this looks rotated to them.

if I place the green at the center it makes sense.
