Gib pass my 4nt

My 4nt shows minors,and hoping Gib partner can pick up a monor,but Gib pass,whose fault?

Nothing wrong with your bid. The problem in my view is the explanation, leading to your GIB partner believing you may have only 4 cards in your minor suits, which is nonsense. This is a very common problem, leading both to GIB not interpreting partner's calls correctly, and to GIB entering the auction at high levels with weak 4 card new suits. The descriptions must be corrected to accurately show the suit length required for higher level bids.

I have reconsidered my action having noticed that partner doubled 4S. With an AK for defense, 4SX should probably be passed. As it happens it goes down 500, more than the value of your game.

I'm surprised that the negative double doesn't have a minimum strength; I think they do in auctions where one minor and one major have been bid.

And, I agree that it's odd for 4NT to be interpreted as "to play"; 5+/5+ minors seems more useful.

Should East's double say something about his distribution that his opening bid didn't say?
