I think the explanations of both of 2 and 4 are deceptive,as a result,it led Gib N to wrong contract.

What's biddable ?
weak 4-card - J875 - without quick trick,is it biddable ?
I think 2 should be alerted as 4-card+,14TP+.4H should be alerted as 2+H,13+hcp,4-card C.
right?

I think the correct bid for South is a direct 3NT- which is 3 card support for Hearts with something like 12-13.

Certainly GIB's criteria for bids needs work. Any human player as N would have bid 4C over 3S, and S could bid 4H showing support with no extras. But GIB has not yet been programmed to understand that it is possible to have fits and two suits, so 4H would be taken as a cuebid, leading to disaster. Let's get to work on this programmers. Every bid description should be re-evaluated. There are so many that have nothing to do with reality.

there are certainly times when South would bid 2 then 4 holding 3hearts and 5+clubs.

And if the South hand fits the description of a 3N response (I forget exactly what it is), that should be bid instead of 2.

And I agree with Ian that North should bid 4 over 3.

I think that 3N response shows 4333 shape without 4 hearts. I forget the strength limitations. Tactically I might do it here anyway. Or, if it is a best hand south event, just shoot 4H over 1H. You may gain from EW expectation of a different holding.

Whenever I have responded 3N to 1M, GIB opener has never taken any action other than to pull to 4M, presumably on the strength of knowledge of 5-3 fit. But that does not allow for the possibility that opener might have a slam going hand were it not for best hand south

True, the 3NT bid over 1M is defined as 4333, 3 of the major, 13-15. I could also see trying that with the actual hand. I did have a hand the other day where I bid 3NT and GIB passed, successfully.

This convention not on Gib's CC (conv raise 3N is not checked). In fact it lists 3N as natural 13-15 hcp presumably 2-card support

course wouldn't be first time CC is wrong can anyone post a hand with 3N having a description.

My link

I've tried to post a link to a hand that I've deliberately misbid in order to display the system definition of a 3NT response to a 1 or 1 opening. In case I haven't succeeded, the system note defines the 3NT bid as showing "Balanced, choice of games. - 3-4 3-4 3-4 3 13-15 total points."
