OK, the contract did make, but that's not the point. Once I bid 6N, that should be final. North however decides to bank on my hand having AKQ of hearts and bids 7H, meaning I had to find the miracle QJ doubleton in trumps to make.

What were you trying to accomplish with your bidding? Whatever it was, you convinced GIB that the QJ,K, and first round control in diamonds were golden cards that justified going to 7. I disagree that 6NT is 100% sign off in this type of sequence.

6N vs 7X is a completely different ball game to 3N vs 4M. I was trying to find out what gibs hand was from those cuebids as 4NT wouldn't tell me what I needed to know (not being able to count the tricks even if partner shows 1 KC, queen of trumps and a side king). Once it bids 6H, I decided it had a very poor hand for hearts and pulled it to 6N which likely had the same 12 tricks, but with some extra chances- like here I pick up all the 4-1 breaks I can in 6H, and I still have some chances if I get one of the less favourable layouts.

What would 3N have meant by North, instead of 4H?
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

I don't think I've ever seen gib bid 3NT in that auction, but I assume it shows a stop in spades and diamonds.

Is 2 really 12-22 total points, not more limited?
