Or East thought that the lead was from ♦K95 and gave at least one of West's aces to South.

I assume this is a typical random Basic Gib play or bid. You get what you pay for. Ace can never lose, even if partner led from K95 and ♦3 [edit] obviously has zero ways to win.

but I would stop playing with a partner that made that deduction for at least a week. lol
