Can't answer your poll, I expect to listen to most matches live on the radio.

I'll watch a few matches here and there, love football (hence the username) but not wild on international stuff

What a surprise, Blatter because his constituency is basically the third world, insists that referees are drawn from across the confederations rather than getting the best refs who are almost all European. We get a Japanese muppet who gives Fred a joke penalty for a ludicrous dive and disallows a perfectly good Croatian goal.

My interest in the world cup has all but disappeared. Fred should get a long ban but won't and the referee and linesmen should be sent home. That said the Croatian goalkeeper should have saved all the goals.

I agree the penalty was a joke, but I believe there was no goal taken away for the linesman had raised the flag (or so I heard from the guy who was there nd speking on the TV). Why he raised the flag I don't I have no idea, but it was so.

I was right except for the refs. :P

I thought disallowing the Croatian goal was 100% fair as you can't hinder the goalie inside the six-yard box, but now I can't find any FIFA rule to back this up. :o But I found some internet people who also remember this rule being in effect at some point in time, equally bewildered that it seems to be an urban legend, or something.

if I knew what hinder means I could support you.

So who is betting that Brazil doesn't get to semifinals at least now? :P There is a lot of money involved in Brazil going through.

Croatian forward doens't look at the ball going in, he rather looks to the left. wanting to see if linesman had raised or?...

EDIT: Linesman is at the other side I think, so why does he look to the left?

Like block, stop from freely moving. Example sentence:

Conspiracy theories hinder the enjoyment of the games for some football fans.

Of course the referee was awful, though, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. This is not 2002 yet.

I was listening to this on the radio so haven't seen the incident. The commentators were adamant there was no foul having seen the replays.

There is a habit among goalkeepers outside the UK who are crap on crosses to take their eyes off the ball, find a forward to run into and fall over. In Europe they get the free kick, in England they don't. This is why Ricardo played so few games for Man United as the refs rumbled him, and why we were outraged when he did this and cost England a goal and the match in a big tournament.

What about the regulation to give both coaches the right 2 times /match to request the video review by the refeeres ( WC, EC, CL....)

Max. 4 breaks would not affect the play.

Already the first reply showed this was a clear foul by the forward, This physical play against goalie is no go in 5 m area.

Just searched the video.

That is not a foul, the keeper has already missed the ball before the contact, and arguably the Croatia forward has already headed the ball before the contact.

Its not a secret that in english footbal more " body play" is allowed than f.ex. in continental one. The different view on this moment results may be from this fact?
