Is it unreasonable to expect GIB to be able to cope with the opponents passing a forcing bid?
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

Looks like rare case as main behavior of GIB is moving in 2 ( even after simulating pass is not competitive call ).

Would be investigated.

Yes I guess it could just be a sim hiccough. I can visualise a hand or two where passing works. It is still a horrible pass, mind.

What would 1NT by West, instead of the double, have shown?

1NT would be: -- 5+ ; 5+ ; 3- ; 3- ; 11-16 total points; forcing

But based on unfavorable vulnerability it needs 14-16TP

With favorable vulnerability it would bid 2NT immediately. Also later if there is such a chance.

Ok, at unfavorable vulnerability:
1H-P-1S-P-P-1NT shows 14-16.

What would 1H-1NT show at unfavorable vulnerability?

A srong NT hand with hearts stopped. Did you mean 1H-2NT? Or P-P-P-1H-1NT?

Yes, I'm sorry. I meant a direct unusual NT.

edit: West twice chose not to bid Unusual, and I'm just trying to figure out what those two opportunities would have shown.

Direct Unusual 2NT needs 12 total points non-vul, 15 TP vul.

So, with unfavorable vulnerability, direct shows 15+TP and the second time around would show exactly 14? Seems incredibly specific.

still would pick 1N over double as the explanation for double by a passed hand was 12-16 pts, last time I checked I open those hands lol

At least 1N shows 5-5 in the minors so you'll end up in the right suit
