I am wondering what the difference is between male/female and female/male.

Probably if you play with a male you are f/m.

Or, as the case may be, the dominatrix.

This should really be a multiselect. I have 6+ very regular partnerships and another dozen or so occasional partnerships. My partnerships are approximately 50/50 between male/female and male/male (I have 8 people I've played 12 or more "power rated" ACBL sessions over the past 2 years - 6 are women and 2 are men; But that doesn't count 2 of my regular partnerships that I play in nearly every week online both of which are male; of the 17 people I've played at least 1 but fewer than 12 rated sessions in the past 2 years 13 are men and 4 are women). But there's no one I play more than about 15% of my bridge with, so trying to pick one partner as my "primary" doesn't really work.

Re M/F vs F/M, it could be that Males are more apt to read bridge forums.

Also this is a reason that whatever he is planning to do with this data, it will not be representative of anything but BBO members.

I voted Male/Male since my most regular partnership is male/male, but I guess my strongest partnership is female/male.
