Club matchpoint game, average field, your partnership is aggressive with first seat preempts (but not insane)

Hand #1, none vul

Partner opens 2S in first seat, RHO pass, are you bidding? 3H? 2NT?
(your methods like it or not: 2NT asks for a feature and new suits are forcing for one round)

Hand #2, both vul

Partner opens 3D in first seat, RHO pass, is this a 3H bid?
It is impossible to believe in individual autonomy while simultaneously believing in a right to well-being supported by others.

I looked at this and thought golly, everyone voted the same as I did. Then I noticed that I was the first voter.

Anyway, I pass on the first and bid 3 on the second. This has a lot to do with the fact that we are nv on the first one and v on the second. Even an aggressive partner should have a better suit, and maybe a better hand, when he is vul than when he is not. I would not consider 3NT on either hand. I guess on the first one, if 2 was a vulnerable opening (it isn't) I would figure we are probably safe for the three level and try 3. If partner lacks a fit he can struggle with 3.I have less confidence that 3 will come in if we are non-vul.

I'm passing both at mp's and would be pleased to take 50% and move on. 3nt is a non starter on either one for me so 3 needs to be raised to gain anything and that's too small a target.
