as a nonexpert will take my 300 vs whatever? 620 and note my loss .....next hand.


amazing how 3d vul worked out but what I can I do? blame system on not bidding 17 pt games?

A few things about this board:

1. No real blame for the bidding at your table; it is virtually impossible to get into the auction.
2. With a clear side entry in clubs, it is better to lead a top spade here. However this is just an additional undertrick.
3. I'd blame teammates on this one; I think the pass of 2 with the East cards is poor. Even a simple raise to 3 might do the trick (and a 2NT asking bid is not unreasonable).

Agreed that E would do better to bid, though 2NT would be natural in our methods. Which would also be OK, come to think of it.
