What is best route to a Heart contract.
East bidding 2♦ and after North rebids 2♠ East now doubles

OR

East doubling 1♠ and in case West bids 2♣ use EQUAL LEVEL CONVERSION and East now bids 2♦?

Either is legit as a partnership preference and both have pitfalls.

2♦ risks a float especially as an overcall where there isn't much left for pard to bid on and it should go float on the posted hand.

Double may work poorly especially if lho bids 2♠ and pard bids 3♣. We may belong there and I would prefer to have a 6th diamond to pull to 3 of them.

I don't play ELC. When I double on these hands and partner bids clubs, I just hope we are in the best contract.

Play Raptor (1NT= 4 Hearts + a longer minor) would be the third way to bid these hands. But both raptor and ELC are outfashioned.

For the actual hand: I had doubled and prayed to reach a red suit contract. The east hand is much too weak for 2 ♦ and a double of a possible 2 ♠.
