The entire hand was something like:

No lol. The table was some OC friends of mine (partner is GNT teammate). I just filled in for a few hands.

For me, double implies no fit. Showing some sort of direct support seems right here.

My 2 cents. Don't understand 2

3 = 10
X = 8
2 = 4
2 =2

Was running out of breath waiting for MY answer. OK, you double. LHO reraises to 3.

You done or are you going to compete to 3?

Obviously since I originally bid 3 because I forgot about doubling, I will bid 3 now.

I don't understand the moral of the hand, or maybe there wasn't supposed to be one.

Maybe he just wanted to know how people would bid this hand? This is an every day bridge decision that is very important, should we just bid 2S or should we force to the 3 level? Should we try to get to hearts or just show our fit? Pretty reasonable problem even if it's not flashy at all. Plus, no one else even mentioned double, including you, who now like double so that alone makes it a reasonable problem since no one else did what he did.

2S Despite the heavy alternative positions I wouldn't consider anything else.

In the opening post he said he was called a beginner so I assumed it was based on the result of this hand, therefore I was surprised that the actual hand looked completely normal. Nothing was wrong with the bidding problem. Don't hate.

Well you seem to have got to the right spot (at IMPs I don't want to double 3 for a likely -1, and opps hands didn't have to be that flat), presuming opps get the defence right.

It helps if you use the hand diagram for the OP, I misread that you had 6 hearts when I recommended 2, it's a much closer problem with the actual hand.

Hey, be careful not scare lalldonn away. I know he can't read, his arguments suck and he never knows when to shut up once he starts posting, but he's still better than 95% of the other posters!
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Nobody mentioned the alternative X to transfer to hearts (showing 5) then rebid (hence showing these values) 2. That's my choice, rebidding 3 if West goes 3 and partner does not double.
