3 looks great when partner has Kxx, but I think at the table we'd all bid 3.

However, this is OK, since over 4, 4 is EKCB.

When are trump,
Meckwell uses 4! as kickback-RKB and 4NT! as Voidwood ( excluding ) .

1H ( 5 card Majors ) - 2C! ( 4+, 2/1 GF for me )
3C ( 4+ ) - 3H ( 3 cards , now showing a double-fit )
3S ( 1st or 2nd Rnd Ctrl, could be shortness; says nothing about "Seriousness" ) - 3NT! ( surely NOT "to play" )
??
.. If 4C, this may be a "waiting" bid; so, you then bid 4H denying a -Ctrl
.. If 4D cue, then Responder can bid 4S! ( 6 Ace kickback-RKC for & : this is for Aguahombre )
...... ( 4D should be a Ctrl and NOT "last train" since a 4C bid was available )

Now that we have the partner's hand ( showing a -void ) in post # 30 :
[ 6 Ace-RKC auction dedicated to aguahombre for double-fit auctions;
4S! would be 6 Ace Kickback ( & ) whereas 4NT = 6 Ace-Voidwood ( & , excluding ) ] :

1H ( 5 card Majors ) - 2C! ( 4+, 2/1 GF for me )
3C ( 4+ ) - 3H ( 3 cards, now showing a double-fit )
4NT ( 6Ace-Voidwood, excluding ) - 5H ( 2 - Q ); Q not includied in key card ask but in the K-ask )
5NT ( K-ask, Q-ask, excluding K ) - 6H ( no K or Q )

For all of you who are making crap up and ignoring the "no agreements" and "common sense" portion: No one was asking how to bid this in your pet system.

I agree with you Chris, but I would like to know what common sense makes partner fail to cuebid his void when its the cheapest cuebid avaible. Its not a critic, is that I don't really understand the logic behind it.

His partner did make a 3S cuebid after the 3H suit agreement... showing either a Ctrl or shortness. [ Full hand post # 30 ] .

I imagine it was because he already cued 3. I'm not arguing that 4 would be wrong - I can easily see how that makes the auction time out much better. I'm just saying that it does make some sense to me why he chose to show a different feature of his hand. But, for the record (someone is making a record of this, right?), I didn't really get into partner's head too much on the post-mortem of this auction, I was more concerned with my own actions and making adequate agreements for cue bidding auctions.

This reminds me of one of my partners saying that he and ( another ) partner cuebid to their hearts content without RKC and reached slam only to find out they had all the controls except the top 2 trumps.
