(1m)-1M-(1NT)-x

which are the most common shapes you would x on? Does this change if it was instead (1C)-1D or (1H)-1S?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I think the prototypical hand would be 2M4oM2m5om.

It's like asking what is the most common shape you'd make a responsive double with. Basically the exact same thing. 5/5 with 2 in partners suit and 1 of theirs would be even more the nuterballs in this case I guess since you're not worried about the pass when you have a stiff.

obv you might do it with 4423, 5422, 5521 with wrong stiff if you wanted to. It's fine with something like 2533 after 1C if it looks right, but not after 1D (much more chance of a disastrous overcompete if they opened diamonds).

At the end of the day it's just a hand that you want to compete with that doesn't want to bid a suit directly, and that cannot support, like all very low level takeout and responsive doubles
