Your call?

What if instead the auction was P - 2 - P to you?

3nt was the bid at our table over the given auction.

At the other table W passed and N opened 2 and E passed and S bid 2nt (feature) and heard 3, your decision with that auction as S?

If 2C is forcing over 1H I'd choose that. Personally I always play new suits NF so I would not have had that option and would just bid 3N.

For us new suits after an overcall below 2 of the opener's suit are F1 by UPH, so 2 would have been forcing.

After pass-2-pass, I'd put dummy down. Even opposite a complete maximum we're likely to lose two aces and two trumps.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

we need to downgrade our hand some due to
probable misfit. I would bid 2n. This leaves
us with a bit more latitude since we can pass
3h if p bids it and be a ton happier if p bids
4h.

16 opposite 10 in a misfit hand doesnt produce game
often especially when the opps strength is generally
behind our 16. bidding 2n at least aks for a tad extra
from p before proceeding to game.
