I find that often GIB's weak or preemptive raises don't really fit a traditional definition. GIB's 3D is within its point range, but I would prefer GIB bid 2D here. Thoughts?

Why do you prefer GIB to bid 2d, if 3d is more descriptive and safe? Generally you will give the opponents substantially bigger problems by bidding 3d instead of 2d. Think of the bid more as "mixed" than "weak".

It's only a little more risk and gives the opponents a lot less room to bid. I think it was a good bid.

3C is a better bid as GIB has more than 9 TP. Just give South a void of clubs and game makes.

8TP as ♠K can't give you both HCP and +1 TP for doubleton.

3♣ would require 11-12TP ( even 9TP won't fit ). What if he doesn't have void in ♣ but Qxx or even Kxx? Both Kings in black suits could become zero value.
