All tables had one or the other of these two auctions:

I know, 6 makes, but there really ought to be a way to play in game.

12 total points minimum on the 4 bid is to low, gib should be able to find 5 bid opposite a more accurate description.

What about bidding 3NT. maybe GIB will like that spot. Will beat 3N , 4 & 5 and lose to 6
Sarcasm is a state of mind

Pretty brave with a small singleton in a suit W is known to be long in.

Very similar situation to the one I posted four months ago; maybe this time a staff member will see and comment...

So, why does GIB raise 5 to 6 (and claim to have 11+ total points) but not raise 4 to 5?

Its probably another GIB HCP=TP problem which is absolute garbage of course and total ill-definition of bids- look how wide is the TP range for 4- 12-22 is nearly meaningless- and despite the description in Bradley's example that's probably the information it gets there so it has no idea what to do next. Partner: I have an opening hand- GIB ???????? gotta to pass. Partner: I have a impossibly strong hand GIB: slam is always right.

Maybe GIB just never plays 5m?

It seems to me that if North has shown 0-9 total points and South make an invitation, North should accept the invitation with 7.

There's a lot of room between 16+ and 25+. Would 3 have shown something between the two?
