Hi all,

Played this morning and had a problem with hand #4 in game 9367. I opened 1 club with an 18 count in tending to rebid 2NT. Then opponents overcalled 2Ds weak. Gib with this hand bid 3C instead of 2Hs. (Jx, KQxxx,x, Jxxxx) We missed our 5-4 H fit. Gib should be programmed to bid major first because he can support Cs at next bid. Thanks

it would seem GIB N only other option is to pass 2
hoping partner would reopen with double
North doesnt have the values to bid 2 but is passed hand
what will button say for 2 call by passed hand?

2 would show a stronger hand than he had -- 2 is forcing for one round (this is pretty standard unless you play negative free bids).

You could bid 3 over 3 to show your hand, and GIB will raise to 4.

We could possibly adjust the requirements for a negative double after 1 (2). Currently, GIB plays that this requires 3+ in both majors. I think many play that it shows either both majors, one major and support for opener, or one major and a stopper in RHO's suit (this last also requires invitational strength, since it will bid 2NT if opener picks the wrong major).

Normal hand....GIB can't bid 2h because 2h is forcing..... At first, i suggest u open 1nt.... Secondly, 3nt is 100% ok. (or u may try 3d) But please don't bid 3h.... I am almost sure that next time u will blame GIB for bidding 4h with only 3h support. Because if GIB doesn't have !s stopper and only 3h, he doesn't have another bid than 4h.... then u will cry again lol.
