This was board 11 in the 2nd BBF Pairs event. I had the following hand, w/w in 4th seat:

Wow.

I would bid 4NT for the minors over 2, and I would be sorely tempted to raise if partner bid 5 of either minor.

I do not see how you can conduct an intelligent auction on this hand by doubling (risking playing in 2x or risking further preemption by the opps) or by bidding 3(???). I don't know if my 4NT call is going to lead to success, but at least I can get 10 or 11 of my 12 cards off my chest in one call.

This is indeed what I was thinking too. My thoughts in raising 5 to 6 were that:

1) If partner has a stiff diamond...slam is a decent shot.

2) If partner has 2 small diamonds (let alone Kx)...slam is at worst about 50-50

3) If partner has any 3 diamonds but bid clubs anyways...slam is great!

Here's the whole hand. It made 7 on the 2-2-2 diamond split.

My partner bid 6 on this hand, which I duly raised to 7 with K9, perhaps with more confidence than was warranted. ;) But it got us a nice top.

6 is a nice idea. Needs a yrb. with diamonds 2-2-2 around the table or with partner holding 3 diamonds.
Kind Regards

Click on the button next to the smiley face on the top (not the right), the one that looks like a chain with a green plus under it. Follow the instructions.

4 = BIG hand with both minors.

Not sure I would like to play in either contract.

One is Leaping Michaels for the minors; the other is Blackwood.... you choose which.
